Time

Well, time flies.... it was so long ago when I posted my last update. Of course things didn't change much, but I think it's time to tell something about us.

Szabi started to speak, he has so many words, sometimes he says sentences (3-4 words: dad, please build me car, I want to got to the plaza, I can't do that etc.), so he can express himself well enough. I am stupid, beacuse I want more and more, though I know he always be a follower... behind his peers. But it is easier to know what he wants.

He is in kindergarten every day 8am-12:30, he loves it, next month we try him to sleep there... and a big surprise: he pees totally alone, goes to the toilet, pulls off his trousers, and pees like a real big boy, flushes toilet, trousers back...sometimes forget hand-washing.... :)

Zalán is getting so big, he'll be 10 months old in a few days. He is standing up on everything and everybody, laughes a lot, but he is a little devil when sg. is not going on the way he wanted.

And 2 pics of my boys with love:

News

Today Szabi and I went to the hospital to make an ECG and a heart-ultrasound. Fortunately everything was OK :)
Morning there was a blood-test, too, I am curious for the results... hope there is no high calcium level or others...

I think it was more than enough of doctors for a long time...Szabi did well, he cried only when the docs put the ecg-tools to him, and while cupping him... :(

He is doing really well in the kindergarten, enjoys it as I see.... thanks for God!!! I bring him home after lunch and he has the nap at home because he is disposed to poop after lunch... so I put diapers onto him for the nap...yayy I hope it isn't for a lifetime ...

And a few new photo for you!

Update

Well, I really don't have too much time nowadays, sometimes Im reading other blogs and smiling or having tears in my eyes, but I was lazy to post or comment....sorry

Szabi was starting kindergarten with 26 other kid, he loves it, no real problems up to now, only peed into his trousers first day... hahh, the others did it, too :)

A few weeks ago he decided a big, and started to riding on bicycle (of course with spare wheels) but he really enjoys it, and can bike big distances.

Speech: max. 40 words.... has some new words, but still waiting for the big breakthrough!!!!

And a few new photos for you:

Good news

Don't want to beleive it, but my son is potty trained through daytime!!!!! He comes and say mommy, poop or shows need to pee (he can't say pee in hungarian so he shows it). Yeah, one less problem before kindergarten :)

He seeems to get start to speak, he is saying yes, in, out, three and other words... I think I had a wonderful weekend!!!!

Unfortunately Zalán was finding his thumb, so he doesn't want pacifier more... :( it is easier now, but who knows when he wants to give up thumb-sucking???

Update

Well, I have buisy days, end of the daycare-year.... We decided to have more therapies for Szabi during the summer, 2 OT, 2 speech and 1 PT per week and see what's happening. He just seems to begin talking, he has a few more words, but nothing really interesting. He is a big knave, sometimes I don't know what to do with him... and he capitalize it... grrrrrrrr

Potty: no diapers, only for sleeping, he knows what he has to do, BUT don't know or don't want to show/say that he'll has to pee or poop. If I ask him in every 1 hour or more often if he has to pee he shakes his head or says yes. How did you do it with your kids? How can you point out tha they have to tell mommy if they has to go to the toilet, Any suggestion???? I have onl y2,5 months to get potty trained because he cannot go to the kindergarten in diapers :(

Zalán: he is a cheeky one, very short naps in the daytime (really very short, sometime only 5 minutes!!!) but fortunately long and calm sleeping in the night. When he isn't sleeping he is smiling, playing with his hands, and the baby-toys, but don't want to be alone, so I have to be dodgy to have time for other things.

Daycare-photo

Here is a group photo of Szabi's daycare, it was made last week. Sorry about the qualitiy, I had to re-take the photo because we got it only on paper :))))))

No more news, Szabi is eating alone, has great appetite, he is more than 32 pounds and about 36 inches (is it the correct unit in the USA?) no more words in his speech, potty-training is going on, he is peeing 3-5 times into the potty every day.

His little brother is in my tummy yet fortunately, we have only 4 weeks back....yayyyy :)))))

Bye, Kati

Update

Well, it was a long time since I posted, but unfortunately I have to lie by, because my cervix was shortening... I am in the 33. week, I hope we'll hold on for at least 4 weeks!!!
Szabi is doing well as usually, he loves daycare, has a few really cute buddies. He acts like a total 3 yrs old, wants to do everything alone: eating alone, peeing alone in the potty while he is standing :)))), doesn't want help while playing or walking on steps, just want to do everything ALONE!!!! Exhaustive....
I know he'll be able to go to kindergarten in september (in Hungary there is daycare 0-3 yrs and kindergarten 3-6 yrs old), the terms are potty-trained and eating alone, no speaking is no obstruction... but I really have to think it over.... His favourite buddy, Claudia (who is a beautiful hungarian-italian little girl) is going to the same kindergarten, where I want to enroll Szabi. He likes her very much and this little girl is mothering Szabi all day :))))) This is a plus point to the kindergarten. Second: the kindergarten is at the end of our street, only have to walk 5 minutes (to the daycare we have to go by car!) Third: Szabi is a typical example, he acts like the other kids around him, so if he stays in a group where everybody is younger than him, there wouldn't be kids who are "pulling him up to the normal" if you know what I mean....
But: if everybody is cleverer and skilfuler than him, wouldn't it be harmful??? And another BUT: in his group there will be only children at age 3-4 yrs, and I intend to let him int the little group for 2 years, and let him step into the middle group and big group after 1-1 year.
I have half a year to decide what to do, but the enrolls are in March!
I envy you, that you don't have to make decisions like this such an early age... :))))
And my little boy is not speaking yet............ he uses baby-language when he wants, babbles fluently if he wants, telling a few main words like daddy, mom, no, yes, good, animal sounds, some names but still waiting for the big breakthrough!

A little gift before christmas...

I offer these cartoons mainly for those friends, whose children are between 1 and 4 yrs. I don't know what is the secret of this little mole, but I loved it when I was a kid and since then every children is crazy of it. It was made from the end of 1960's, so this is a real socialist cartoon, but take a try and see how your children enjoy it :) Szabi is crazy for it a long time....

So, here it is:

look at the realted videos, too, there are more parts!!!

It's a boy!!!!

Yesterday I was at the doc to make the 19th week US....and yes, Szabi'll have a little brother :)))))))) He showed his willy (am I saying it right?) very well to us :D

This week was really cold and rainy, so I went to a playing-house with Szabi and a 2 other little one (and with her mums, of course). The kids really enjoyed the tons of toys and I really enjoyed that I could sit down and relax... Szabi found the duplo and lego-tables, so I had nothing to do...

After we got home and my brother came to visit us with his family (just as every friday and saturday... :))))) Szabi is in love with their bigger daughter, Dori (12) and they played a really big, there was no problem with bed-time...ha-ha

A few weeks ago Szabi's nanny in the daycare decided to put Szabi on big-kid menu (ages 2,5 and up). Well, I really didn't want to beleive, but Szabi is doing well, he eats almost alone (except soup), and loves it! Fortunately he likes the daycare-menu..... sometimes I think he loves it better than my cooking..... He started to eat pears, and he is crazy about mandarine and orange. I don't know how many mandarins he would able to eat, but I am afraid to give him more than 5 whole fruit :P

I bought a potty with music (it plays the "if you happy ...clap your hands.....sorry, I don't know the english version), maybe he'll have more motivation to get potty-trained.... there is no results yet....

I looked at Avery's blog and I have a comment: I really don't know that testing our children in such an early age is good for us. I mean that while a child is not talking well, she/he is far behind the peers.... That's why a lot of parent got bad news at testing. All of us know that our kids are behind the typical/normal...etc....(everybody use the phrase what want), and I think all of us do the best we can. Sometimes better sometimes worse.
Szabi is not talking yet. If I am standing on my head, he isn't..... He will..... I hope soon..... but if I'd carry him to Dr. Mervis or Dr. Morris, they would find him far behind than other ws kids, I am 100% in this. But he is doing really well, only not talking and not potty trained. He is very non-verbal, he understands really many things and complete tasks (pull down socks, pull up trousers, wash your hands, bring here, give away, point sg. out etc...), but I don't need a comparison to somebody else, because it'd frighten me. Sometimes I am afraid of readig the blogs and the listserve, because I truly don't understand with ws-things and other parents fears or advices..... who knows what Szabi (or Clare, Avery, Erik, Brady and all the other kids) is going to do in a year or in 5 (10-20-50) years? For example I don't know yet what a lot of parent mean under anxiety. How can be a 1 or 2 year old child could be able for anxiety? I hope I only misunderstand the meaning of the word. And meltdowns.... it's ok for a meltdown in age 4 or up, but sooner???? Every healthy kid have tantrums, meltdowns, laughing-crying-laughing-crying periods, but should we label our kids with such ugly words as anxiety, meltdown and so on?
I really don't know what to think. Maybe I am lucky, because I am a lazier mum, try not to worry too much, and try to handle Szabi as a totally normal kid? maybe I am unlucky that I don't worr too much and don't work much more with Szabi? Am I gulity that I just want to play with my son and not to develop him under playing?

Sorry for the long comment, I had to write it down. I hope somebody understand it, and the others don't get sore :)

Love, Kati

The first snow

It was snowing this morning!!!! First time in this year (have to admit: last year there was no snow at all!!!!!) So: this is the first time when Szabi met the snow :))))))))) he doesn't really like the feeling when snow flakes were falling on his face, but loved the snow on the ground and of course the big plashes!!! This is not the real snow yet, only a little display, but it reminded me to go and buy warm boots for Szabi...yayyy

2. I hope that this little somebody in my paunch is very-very healthy!!!!!!!!!!

Uh, Heather asked me what is nucha: sorry, i thought it means tha same in every language, it means: nape. In Hungary every pergnant woman has to go to a genetic US at the 12. week, when the US doctor look at the baby's nape, which should be between 0 and 2,5 mm (0-0,09 inch). If it is bigger, maybe indicates Down-syndrome or other chromosome-abnormalities. Szabi's nape was 2,8 mm..... So you can understand why this US was very important for me :)

Love, Kati

My favourite pic now..... we took it a few days ago and had a really good time with this little girl's dad.... the 2 kids look like who are in love :D
